Healer’s BiS vs. Armor Class

A hot topic right now is an ongoing debate regarding BiS vs. Armor Class loot priority. It’s been touched upon by the WoW.com folks and the stats researched by the experts. However, one of the questions that keeps showing up in blog discussions is what are the BiS items that wouldn’t necessarily fall under a particular healer’s armor class?  Since this is about what exactly overlaps (e.g., what cloth pieces would/should a druid be looking at) I’ll be concentrating on Druids, Shamans, and Pally healers so those that wear cloth, leather, and mail know when to expect the other healers to be rolling against them. I’ll also be concentrating on the 10man pieces or 25man pieces that come from Naxx or VoA (i.e., puggable raids of current content) since that is a common gap in these BiS discussions. Also, I’ll not be covering any slots that are not armor class dependent, so they will be left up to the individual healers to decide BiS.

First, Resto Druids should be looking at this stat priority recommended by the experts, so here is the list:
Head
If you can’t get your tier piece, you might be going for Enamored Cowl (Sartharion 2D), Cowl of Innocent Delight (Naxx(H) – Loatheb), or Lifespark Visage (Flame Leviathan).
Shoulder
Iceshear Mantle (Ulduar – Zone Drop) is probably your best choice here, but Mantle of the Locusts (Naxx(H) – Anub’Rekhan) is also a good choice.
Chest
Sorry clothies but Sympathy (Naxx(H) – Sapphiron) is our ultimate BiS here but if you absolutely can’t get this the next best is Vest of the Glowing Crescent (XT-002 Deconstructor).
Bracers
No real clothy competition here unless you manage to be running OS(H) raids.
Hands
If you can’t get your tier pieces, you might be going for Handwraps of Resonance (Thorim) otherwise Gluth in Naxxramas has some nice Leather gloves for you.
Waist
This is one which you will really be fighting for, Sash of Jordan (World Drop) or go ahead and spend the Emblems on the Elegant Temple Gardens’ Girdle.
Legs
If you can’t get your tier pieces, you’ll probably be stuck with the Leather Leggings from Naxxramas.
Feet
This is a slot where you’ll be hoping for the Leather Boots from the Iron Council, otherwise you’ll be spending your Emblems on a pair of Boots.

Next, Shamans should be looking at this stat priority proposed by the experts, with the following off Armor class possibilities:
Head
Not really competing with the druids unless you happen to be raiding Sarth2D(H).
Shoulder
You better be hoping for your tier pieces or you’ll be competing with the other cloth wearers for Underworld Mantle (General Vezax).
Wrist
You might be competing against your druid healers for the Bindings of the Depths (General Vezax).
Hands
You better be saving emblems for your tier pieces or you’ll be competing with the other cloth wearers for Handgrips of Turmoil (Grobbulus).
Chest, Waist, Feet, and Legs
You can pick up a nice mail BiS chest from Flame Leviathan, BiS waist from Heigan (Naxx) or Patchwerk in Naxx(H), decent mail boots from Sarth2D or Anub’rekhan, and there are plenty of mail legs available, or go grind your Knights of the Ebon Blade reputation.

Finally, Paladins should be looking at this stat priority proposed by the experts, with the following off Armor class possibilities:
Head
You’ll be fighting the shaman in your group for the Helm of Veiled Energies (XT-002 Deconstructor) or be looking for the Plate helm off of Loatheb.
Wrist
You’ll be fighting the shaman in your group for the Armbraces of the Vibrant Flame (Ignis) or be trying for the plate wrists from Gothik (Naxx(H)).
Waist
You’ll be fighting the shaman for the Belt of the Iron Servant (Iron Council) or you’ll be spending Emblems on the Plate belt.
Legs
If you haven’t seen your tier legs, you’ll be fighting the shaman for either the Ironscale Leggings (Razorscale) or the Avenging Combat Leggings (Faerlina).
Shoulder, Chest, Hands, and Feet
There’s some nice plate shoulders from Faerlina or you might be hoping for the Pauldrons from Ignis. You should have no trouble picking up a plate chest, even if you have to spend some Emblems. Anub’rekahn or Razuvious have your gloves and you should have no trouble picking up plate boots; try running heroic Violet Hold.
